Just saw it. It was pretty entertaining, even though it wasn't the book. If they just gave it a different title I think most folks would enjoy it. and for the record, i never really cared for the book. Never saw what the big deal was.

the movie was fantastic, I could watch it multiple times for sure....
hell I even liked the opening title sequence. there have been rumors of making it a trilogy, I am curious how that would be accomplished.

the zombies still moved when you destroyed the brain too...they just lost motivation and stimulous...yes I know we saw a few zombies die...but they weren't really dead...proof of concept is, the room where they were all dead and ash...there was an ashed destroyed zombie with just a lil meat left on two fingers, and they were still moving....and how zombies just hung around in korea till they heard a noise...what seemed like a dead body on the ground began crawling .

ah ha! I know how they do the trilogy...they finish up cleaning away infected areas....and then begin interviews to figure out how it started and why it spread so fast....

I caught this last night with the wife. I honestly thought this was terrible. I tried going in with an open mind being a fan of the book, but it just didn't do it for me. The book and movie shared a name, and basically a main character who worked for the same organization. That's it. What bothers me the most is that if it's based on a book as said in the credits makes Max Brooks book look like a hot pile of shit in comparison to people who've never read the book. I can see a liberty here or there, but this was just basically a Resident Evil, Uwe Boll movie experience to me where they bought the rights, and have no fucking clue on the franchise what so ever.

I finally saw this yesterday (I know, I'm late to the party - didn't have a huge motivation to see it, but had some free time and figured 'what the hell').
I actually really enjoyed it. Probably helped that my expectations going in were really low, but it certainly exceeded those expectations. It also made it easy to distance the movie from the book, because it practically had nothing in common with the book. Aside from the shared title, a shared 'lead' character with UN affiliations, and some similarities with the part on Israel - it was a different story.
Didn't have a horror feel to me; it was more of an action flick. Not many scares (maybe one or two 'jump' moments), but it was fairly tense throughout. Only one part that bugged me, and that was when they saved the kid early on and never ever said anything about it (about his parents dying or anything). Maybe it got cut in editing, but feel like they could have devoted 30 seconds to it at least - but it was just like 'o, hai, ur with us now'.
I really loved the way the zombies would click their teeth - I thought that was a nice touch. What really surprised me was how much I hated that scene where the zombies were climbing up the wall in the trailers, but during the movie it didn't bother me at all. It actually reminded me of the Zombie Survival Guide, where he talked about how zombies in sufficient numbers would pile on top of each other to eventually get over walls. Maybe it was just the full context of the scene, or something, but it thought it worked ok in the movie.
I remember Nina doing a post in some thread about how the zombies were like ants. Noticed at the begging of the film they were showing nature scenes, and showed ants and bees engaging in hive behavior - so it seems like the film intended that reference. Also thought the zombies were way more like 28 Days Later infected than regular zombies, or even Dawn of the Dead remake zombies - which I already figured from the trailers, but I actually thought they were alive infected people until they mentioned the zombies being dead (not having working circulatory systems) at the W.H.O. facility near the end. Probably should have figured that from when they showed the fingers moving in the ashes in South Korea, but still wasn't sure at that point.
In short, I'm happy I went to see it. If they do any sequels, I'll be happy to see them in theaters. Figure it's better if book fans pretend it's not affiliated with the book, and that it's easier to enjoy it if you think of it as an entirely different beast.

My friend ordered it on demand on Saturday. I watched for about 30 minutes, then I turned on my phone and read news articles on CNN. My friend then said, "I paid money for this shit!" I laughed hard at that and said, "Yes, yes you did." We then watched Star Trek Into Darkness for the second time that day.
