Talking zombies. I think this is the beginning of the end of The Walking Dead. Taking bets, I say it's done by issue #175.
First tigers and now this. Yuck.

MOTHER OF GOD! I knew Kirkman would become stretched too thin with his crappy show and this comic plus the eight hundred different comics he's been putting out. Perhaps Kirkman should spend more time focusing on improving story arcs and less time on digging out garbage from the dumpster, slapping a Walking Dead title on it, packing it, shipping it out the LBC's, and selling it for the low low low price of $34.99.
However, I highly doubt Kirkman would ever allow his comic to become this lame! Just the lame it is now

It's probably just some people disguising themselves among the walkers à la Ricks group/Michonne.

a long while back, we had a cover which looked like zombie lori (on the cover). Then we had a cover which looked like someone holding a gun to Lori. Another was NEGAN looking like he was about to bat GRIMES over the head with Lucielle. There are others, but those are examples of covers which gave you a specific impression, but the comic did something else.
I think you guys are a little too harsh sometimes making pre-judgements. While you're also justified in you opinion based on KIRKMAN's current seemingly tight schedule, some things may seem to be lacking. But, ye gotta give him time to release the comic and see what unfolds before you jump out and blast it.
Yah, we like the traditional zombie. I really miss scenes of mass zombie killings. I understand why Carl is hurt about a another blacksmith apprentice. I'm also with Rick on not wanting to be a celebrity for 'taking down NEGAN'. While it's justified, he doesn't seem to want the attention (well, what does he expect?).
I'm glad MAGNA didn't accept negan's lies and set him free. But, I don't think she's done with him. It would have been a lame tease other wise (why have her sneak down there for all that unless something was actually going to happen). Maybe they get caught as they leave and now they gotta explain what they were doing, or they get disciplined for breaking and entering, and they get in jail too...then actually start talking to NEGAN and he convinces them.
It all comes back to my personal point of view; "sit back and enjoy the ride". Some story arcs are a lil "meh", and others glue you to your seat. It's a short read every month, and it's about zombies. Enjoy it while it lasts. How many of us could make a better story arc?

Except Nina, this wasn't a cover. This was in the actual issue. Perhaps the two guys are going insane and think they heard it, but there was no doubt that on that page the herd of zombies have dialogue bubbles.

Should be noted that I don't actually believe he will have talking zombies and also I haven't read the last three issues.
I do believe the product has become oversaturated and the quality has diminished greatly.

I've been praising the new arc, but the talking zombie bit is a game changer. If it isn't true (Zombie mentioned maybe the dude's just crazy, I'm crossing my fingers) then what was the point? Is Kirkman pulling a "Haha, Psyche!" moment in the narrative? I understand the misleading covers, it generates buzz about the contents and sells copies. But to do something like that in the narrative, that's basically just trolling the readers. For nothing. Off the top of my head, I can't think of Kirkman ever pulling something like that before, in any of his titles. So I'm assuming that it's legit. We're going to have talking zombies. I hope like hell I'm wrong.

One small silver lining: I can't fuuuuugggin' wait for the upcoming Letter Hacks. Might be a bigger shitshow than the months of letters after Michonne got raped. Ahhh, the golden age of Letter Hacks...takes me back.

Possible reasons for talking zombies
My guess it's going to cause the question - Is the virus mutating? Are they getting smarter?
Also, dude is going to think he can communicate with them and lead some folks to their deaths
Or Kirkman just wants the series to end

i owe you an apology, you're talking about page 8, "where they go", "don't know", "keep moving", "ok". I guess I thought it was the guys talking. I didn't catch that it was the zombie talking. that's a whole other story. But, I still stand on my "wait and see how it pans out".
I do agree with you...talking zombies isn't the best idea. Kirkman has saved us in the past with dumb ideas turning out alright.
I still think the NEGAN conflict should have lasted a lil longer (the final battle I mean). I'd have liked to see a full book or two or three of none stop action.

Well they finally jumped the shark for real with this one. The only thing worse would be to literally have zombies jumping a shark tank with a motorcycle........ who knows with the way this seems to be going we might actually see that.
